The source text should be checked before translation to ensure that:

    • The original text contains short, easily understandable sentences.
    • The source text is understandable, meaning it is written for the target audience.
    • It contains no complex sentences that are difficult for the translator to translate.
    • The source text contains no abbreviations that are incomprehensible to the technical translator.
    • Consistent terminology was used.

This makes the translator's job easier. They have fewer questions, and the quality of the technical translation and the translation memory improves.

When choosing a technical translation service provider, don't just trust the agreed contract and marketing promises. Verify that the standards are actually being met.

    • Does the service provider present the translated source text and the proofreading to the client?
    • Is the editing process documented?
    • What qualifications do the translator and the editor actually possess?
    • Is the text translated before editing, or is it machine translation?

Providing terminology: Yes, of course. We would be happy to provide you with your terminology

upon request . You can receive it along with your translations . We can send you your terminology as a TMX file. If desired, we can also arrange for you to receive the terminology used after each project or translation , or as needed.

There are several factors that can affect the delivery date of your translation .

Preparing some file types is relatively time-consuming, and this is where you, as the client, can take an active role. If PDF files need to be translated, it's a great help to the project manager if you provide the documents in an editable format. Preparing and processing Word files is significantly easier and faster compared to PDFs. During preparation, there's no need to convert them to Word format, and when creating the target language file, there's no need to edit the layout. For Excel files, you can highlight the fields to be translated in yellow, making it easier for the project manager to identify them.

Providing quick and thorough answers to the translator's questions can also significantly shorten the process. If you define a lot of new terminology during product development, sending explanations of new technical terms can save the translator research time.
